PROJECT: Practice, Practice, Practice! Week Two
WEEK TWO
SEPTEMBER 24 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2017
So, school started which means I have less time to work on my artwork. Whenever I'm in school, I tend to be very unmotivated to do anything and a pro-procrastinator. Like more than I already am. However, I wasn't about to give up on this project! The main point of this project was to get myself use to sticking to a project. I gave myself 1 hour on Saturday to do week 2's drawing.
For this week, I decided to draw a self portrait. I had about 5 people tell me this week that my sense of style has changed since my trip to South Korea. I was told my fashion sense is more Korean now and I look more "fancy". So, I drew myself in my first day of school look! Honestly, I could've done a lot better. It's not my best work but it's something new I tried. At first, I was trying to go for a realistic approach but decided against it because I've been wanting to try out a new style of art to try to find my own style so I tried it out this week. It was a mixed between realism and cartoon (ish?).
While the cons outweigh the pros, I'm proud of myself. I tried something new and shared it to the public despite the fact that I'm not too happy with the drawing. I learned that I really need to practice noses and lips (lol, same lesson as last week). I also learned that I like this style a lot so I'm gonna test it out some more and see where it takes me! Finally, I may have found my style! Been searching and developing it for so long!
Thanks for taking your time to read this. Ya da best!

This piece took me less than 1 hour and it's more of a sketch. One of my biggest regret was that I drew this slanted (like at a 45 degree angle) so when I took the photo, I transformed the angle so it was at a 180 angle. (The image below shows how slanted the drawing really is in real life). Due to this repositioning of the image, I noticed how off the proportions were. Sighh....

Pros: What I liked about this piece
- I liked how I stepped outside my comfort zone to test out this style.
- The style I used, semi-realistic, is something I really like and think I could see this as my "style".
Cons: What I didn't like
- Honestly, how the overall drawing turned out. I feel like it looks weird.
- The proportions are weird
- I drew this at an angle
- Lol, what happened with the nose and the lips! (Ughhh, I need more practice).
