TRAVEL DRAWNG JOURNAL: BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA
I spent about three days in Busan during my trip to South Korea. It was an amazing city full of beautiful art, culture, and life. I wanted to capture my time there not just by photos and words but by my favorite memories by drawing out what I loved the most.
One of my favorite visits was going to the Gamcheon Culture Village which is an area of houses built on the foothills of a mountain in a staircase like manner. This area reminded me of photos I have seen of the colorful hillside houses in Italy. It's a must see in Busan. This place is also known as "Dreaming Busan's Machu Picchu". The area is filled with all sorts of color and beautiful artwork. There are many galleries and studios to visit in the area. Being here gave me the inspiration of continuing to do art and not let that passion die. It was something about seeing all the art around the village and how the art made the village come alive gave me the motivation to continue with my art and develop it.
I attended my first baseball game while in Busan. It was an out of this world experience. As someone with a very short attention span, I thought I would get bored easily and want to leave the game early. However, that was not the case. There were cheerleaders (who knew baseball had cheerleaders) and a hype man entertaining the crowd and keeping the crowd in high spirit. There were many dances and chants/cheers for almost everything. At some parts, it felt like I was at a concert! It was truly amazing to see how spirited and supportive the fans were.
While I have done many other things in Busan, I just wanted to highlight my top two favorite moments. I will continue to do these drawing travel journals for my time in Seoul and Jeju island. Like I said earlier, I do have a short attention span so it may take awhile for me to actually finish them.
So, until next time––
Byeeeee!
